In this gripping movie, What the punk! explores the extraordinary story of the CryptoPunks and the birth of the vibrant CryptoArt scene, with the pioneers themselves sharing their story for the first time in an independent documentary.

What The Punk! delves into an almost surreal world where incredibly creative artists navigate the complexities of big speculators and digital crooks. Featuring the creators of the CryptoPunks, Matt Hall and John Watkinson, What The Punk! chronicles this unprecedented journey from a candid blockchain experiment to the world’s most prestigious museums and auction houses. The CryptoPunks shook the art world, triggering an artistic revolution and a massive speculative storm. The documentary also highlights the story of ROBNESS, a radical L.A-based artist who pioneered art distribution via blockchain and founded the famous Trash-art movement, a cornerstone of CryptoArt.

International release is set on June 11th on VIMEO OTT for a limited 3 months period and on ARTE for France and Germany.

The European Premiere will be held on June 11th alongside ART BASEL 2024, at Kult Kino Cinema during Digital Art Mile, a new digital art fair format in Basel.

Director and Producer will attend and be available for interviews.
