The CEO Of Telegram Is A Geopolitical Hostage

Pavel Durov is a prisoner of geopolitical tensions. The world’s fragmentation is accelerating, making way for bitcoin.

80 Rafales in the balance?

It is rumored that the United Arab Emirates are ready to suspend their purchases of fighter jets from France’s Dassault if Emmanuel Macron doesn’t release Pavel Durov. This information is circulating on Twitter:

Since Cointribune could not find the video on Al Jazeera’s official site, it’s probably fake news. However, it’s not impossible that the UAE delivered this warning indirectly on purpose.

Regardless, given that Pavel Durov has an Emirati passport in addition to his Russian and French passports, Dubai has stepped in. The petro-monarchy demands that France immediately provide “all consular services” to Mr. Durov, warning that the protection of its citizens is an “absolute priority”.

Who is Pavel Durov? The founder of one of the world’s largest messaging apps: Telegram (nearly a billion users).

Why was he arrested? For his refusal to cooperate with any government, including Russia. Quite the opposite of Facebook, which actively collaborates with the U.S. government.

Why now? His arrest had been planned for a long time. For “several months,” according to media outlet Politico.

The reason is that Telegram is the primary source of firsthand information about the wars in Ukraine and Palestine. The CIA and Mossad intend to pressure to delete certain Telegram groups or obtain encryption keys.

On that note, remember that conversations are not end-to-end encrypted by default. In other words, Telegram can technically access conversations that are not in “secret” mode. And thus could hand them over to malicious governments…

Whoever controls the media controls the minds

There is no doubt that Pavel Durov is a geopolitical hostage. The aim is to stifle firsthand information from Donbass and Gaza. This arrest is a bad omen for peace.

In this context, the French Armed Forces chief stated on Tuesday that “we must prepare for very hard, if not very hard, times for the West”.

“We are resolutely entering a new era where the West is challenged […] and the fragmentation of the international order is extremely strong,” declared General Thierry Burkhard in front of Medef officials and ten major French groups.

This international order, “founded on law, built by the Western world, is reproached for being built for the Western world,” he added, warning that an “alternative order” is taking shape and wants “to push us out.” “Let’s not believe that we will return to the world of before. What is being put in place, we will have to live with.”

This alternative order that the general does not name is called the BRICS, which the United Arab Emirates joined earlier this year. Hence its activism regarding Durov.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also quickly requested to meet Pavel Durov.

“Relations between Moscow and Paris are at their lowest, particularly because of Paris’ position on freedom of expression and information […]”, he said.

The minister stated that the detention of Mr. Durov proves that the Telegram platform is a “truly protected” messaging app.

Information Warfare

Media mogul Konstantin Malofeev also reacted in extremely frank terms:

“Pavel Durov has repeatedly stated his independence and refusal to cooperate with secret services.

However, in the 21st century of totalitarian liberalism, it is impossible to live without being an agent of Western intelligence agencies.

Only startup founders recruited by the CIA or NSA when they were students – like Zuckerberg, or Brin and Page – can claim to be visionary multi-billionaires.

Durov refused to cooperate with the FSB and got away with it. But his refusal to cooperate with the Americans led to his arrest in France. Today, he has two options:

Refuse to work for the CIA and spend many years in prison. Or accept. He will then be released, but will no longer be free.”

The world is increasingly fragmented, both in terms of information and currency. It is hard to see how trust could return after such bloodshed.

In this context, let’s remember that Russia will host the BRICS summit in Kazan in October. It is rumored that Palestine will submit its candidacy. Clearly, the world is rapidly dividing into two irreconcilable camps. Frightening… Especially since Russia has just changed its nuclear doctrine, yet another warning shot.

The BRICS want to enter a new era characterized by the de-dollarization of global trade. The Empire seems ready to start a world war to prevent it, but again, there will be no turning back… According to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, an alternative to the Western SWIFT payment system could be unveiled at the summit.

Lastly, Russia will launch a platform on September 1st allowing major Russian companies to settle their exports and imports in bitcoin. In a fragmented world, bitcoin is king. It is no coincidence that Donald Trump – who wants to avoid a third world war – has just endorsed bitcoin.
