Survey: The French prefer cryptocurrencies over the stock market

The FTX storm has wreaked havoc in the United States, Japan, and even France, but this hasn’t prevented an increase in the rate of crypto adoption in France. According to a report by the Financial Markets Authority (AMF), the number of local adults investing in cryptocurrencies has relatively increased. More details below!

9% of French adults hold crypto

The lack of regulatory clarity in the United States might have pushed some crypto industry players to flee the country. France, which the current government intends to transform into a “crypto hub”, has decided to wide open its doors to these American exiles.

It is therefore not surprising that 31% of young French people are in favor of being paid in cryptocurrencies, as highlighted in the report of a survey conducted by Payfit.

According to Bitcoin.com, AMF’s investigations have revealed a significant increase in the number of French people holding crypto-assets. Statistics:

• 24% of French adults admit to having investments in various financial instruments;
• 9% of them hold cryptocurrencies;
• more than 10% of those surveyed are rushing into real estate funds;
• 5.4% in bonds.

“The rate of individual holding of crypto-assets stands at 9% of the French population. The rate of listed securities holdings is at 7%, close to the level estimated by the Kantar institute in March 2023 (See LOE special issue of July 2023)”, reads the Newsletter of the AMF’s Household Savings Observatory.

Another notable point of this report: compared to traditional investors, new investors are investing less and less in the stock market. 54% of them, which is 63% of new investors aged 25 to 34 years, are interested in the crypto adventure, whereas traditional investors show a modest rate of 25%.
