Indeed, the news that thrilled the crypto industry was actually false. The SEC’s public relations team provided a formal “NOPE” to queries submitted by the press to this effect.

This is no doubt frustrating the expectations of the crypto community. The latter wants only one thing. To see Gary Gensler gone, leaving crypto regulatory issues to those who favor them.

However, any news concerning this contested leader is massively relayed, even when it should be taken with great caution. Recently, for example, the SEC boss was suspected of manipulating the market to line his own pockets.

Yet, as was the case with this false information, several crypto industry players called for restraint. Among them was pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton, who expressed doubts about the veracity of the information.

Deaton was joined by several members of the crypto community, who indicated that the news would only be credible once confirmed by credible sources. Fox News is one such source. It was actually Fox News that contacted the SEC‘s public relations team.
