NVIDIA Moves Its Production To The U.S.
For the first time in its history, the technology giant NVIDIA is launching the manufacturing of artificial intelligence supercomputers entirely in the United States. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen the American supply chain in the crucial AI sector.
NVIDIA launches the manufacturing of AI supercomputers on American soil
NVIDIA has started production of its Blackwell chips at TSMC factories in Phoenix, Arizona. The American semiconductor manufacturer has mobilized more than one million square feet of manufacturing space spread between Arizona and Texas to build and test its new AI chips and supercomputers.
In Houston and Dallas, NVIDIA has partnered respectively with Foxconn and Wistron to establish factories dedicated to the assembly of supercomputers, with mass production expected to ramp up within the next 12 to 15 months.
To accomplish this ambitious project, NVIDIA relies on an ecosystem of specialized partners. In addition to TSMC for chip fabrication, the technology giant collaborates with Amkor and SPIL for packaging and testing operations in Arizona.
This complex chain employs the most advanced manufacturing, packaging, assembly, and testing technologies available on the market.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, emphasized the historic importance of this initiative:
For the first time, the engines of the global AI infrastructure are built in the United States. Integrating American production allows us to better meet the growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthen our supply chain, and increase our resilience.
A massive investment for the American economy
Over the next four years, NVIDIA plans to produce up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure in the United States through its industrial partnerships.
This ambitious initiative is also expected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs and significantly contribute to the country’s economic security in the coming decades.
These supercomputers form the backbone of a new type of data centers exclusively designed for artificial intelligence processing.
NVIDIA estimates that several dozen “gigawatt AI factories” are expected to be built in the coming years, thereby creating a genuine next-generation industry on American soil.
To optimize its manufacturing processes, the company will deploy its own AI technologies, including NVIDIA Omniverse to create digital twins of factories and NVIDIA Isaac GR00T to develop robots intended to automate production.
In sum, this strategic production relocation occurs amidst heightened trade tensions between the United States and China, reinforcing American technological autonomy in a sector considered critical for national sovereignty.
