In December 2024, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based on Ether (ETH) recorded net inflows exceeding $2.6 billion, marking a significant milestone for these crypto products. This performance reflects a growing interest in Ether ETFs, despite their lag behind Bitcoin ETFs, which closed the year with net inflows of over $35 billion.

Crypto: Ether ETFs end 2024 with $2.2 billion in net inflows

Crypto data shows that Ether ETFs experienced eight consecutive weeks of net inflows in November and December 2024, peaking with a record $2.2 billion in the week of November 26. Among the major funds, the iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) from BlackRock attracted over $3.5 billion in net inflows in 2024, followed by the Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH) with $1.5 billion. In contrast, the Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) saw net outflows of $3.6 billion.

This momentum could intensify in 2025, especially if ETH price performance improves ETF returns and if regulators allow funds to generate returns from staking. Since November, ETH has outperformed BTC in the spot and derivatives markets, according to a December report from Bybit. Additionally, the growing activity in the crypto network, particularly due to the proliferation of artificial intelligence agents, could further drive Ether’s performance.

Future perspectives

Crypto analysts estimate that the spot price of Ether could reach $6,000 by the fourth quarter of 2025. This optimistic forecast is supported by increasing activity on the Ethereum network and Base, a layer 2 scaling network for Ethereum, where many AI agents are currently operating.
