Does unity still make strength? Not if we are to believe Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, who has never been afraid to tackle his rivals. But at the dawn of 2025, the man, often criticized for his frankness, plays the card of appeasement. In a rare public confession, he advocates for a truce in the crypto sector and calls for unprecedented collaboration between rival ecosystems, notably Bitcoin, Solana, and XRP.

Charles Hoskinson and the Cardano community: easing tensions

Charles Hoskinson, a key figure in the crypto industry, has made a name for himself with a tumultuous career. Former co-creator of Ethereum, he has never minced his words when facing his rivals. Now at the helm of Cardano, he calls for turning the page on past conflicts, believing they hinder the progress of the blockchain.

In a statement on X, Charles acknowledged having sometimes “taken jabs” at his opponents and laments the reciprocal attacks:

His goal? To seize a unique opportunity that he describes as making blockchain indispensable by 2025.

Main rivalries of Cardano:

  • Ethereum: disagreements over governance since 2014;
  • Bitcoin: disputes over consensus models;
  • XRP: tensions exacerbated by Ripple’s lawsuits against the SEC.

Charles is now betting on cross-chain collaboration to expand the crypto market to trillions of dollars. According to him, it is an essential condition to penetrate all households and global administrations.

A crypto sector riddled with quarrels

The crypto industry, still young, is often the theater of fratricidal struggles. Hoskinson himself has not shied away from controversies: from his ousting from Ethereum to his virulent criticisms against Bitcoin and Solana, he has established himself as a sharp voice.

Yet, he admits today that these conflicts have slowed the sector’s progress.

His recent dispute with Wyoming’s stablecoin commission is an example. Excluded from a project involving Ethereum and Solana, Hoskinson condemned a biased process and threatened to take legal action. These episodes highlight how ego can hinder collective innovation.

But while Cardano struggles to compete in terms of adoption compared to Ethereum, Charles wants to embody change. His vision for 2025 rests on a unified crypto industry, free from its “petty tribalism“.

A titanic ambition, but essential, in his view, to integrate blockchain into the workings of society.

However, Charles Hoskinson remains true to his image: a proud defender of Cardano, which he considers to be “one of the greatest technical achievements in human history“. This mix of arrogance and boldness could well be the key to turning his dreams of unity into reality.
