Crypto: After The Success Of Saga, Solana Announces A New Phone

Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, announces the launch of “Seeker,” its second crypto-focused smartphone, planned for 2025. This new generation promises significant advancements compared to the Saga model, its predecessor.

A technological leap for mainstream crypto adoption

During the Token conference 2049, Solana Labs’ subsidiary announced the imminent launch of “Seeker,” its second crypto-focused smartphone.

The “Seeker” stands out for its hardware and software innovations. Emmet Hollyer, project lead, details the notable improvements: “Our new device offers a brighter screen, a more efficient battery, and an additional camera sensor.” The compact design makes it easy to use as a secondary device.

On the software side, integrating a custom crypto wallet into the secure Seed Vault will significantly simplify the management of digital assets. This innovation directly addresses the needs expressed by the crypto community following the launch of the Saga.

Solana’s unique decentralized app store will also undergo a major overhaul. “The new interface will offer better discoverability of crypto apps, thus facilitating their adoption by users,” Hollyer specifies.

A rapidly expanding ecosystem

The announcement of the Seeker has sparked unprecedented interest from developers. Unlike the Saga, which initially had a slow start, the new smartphone already boasts over 140,000 pre-orders.

“Developer enthusiasm is palpable,” confirms Hollyer. “We are seeing a significant increase in teams wanting to create apps for the Seeker, attracted by its potential user base and tokenized reward opportunities.“

This positive momentum is partly explained by the unexpected success of the Saga. Initially overlooked, Solana’s first smartphone saw renewed interest when traders realized the benefits of token airdrops associated with the device.

The Seeker continues this trend by offering a Genesis NFT to each owner, thus opening the door to exclusive rewards and experiences within the Solana ecosystem.

The Seeker’s innovation is not limited to the crypto world. Solana Mobile collaborates with decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) like Helium, enabling the smartphone to share GPS and cellular sensor data.

While raising privacy concerns, this feature could prove valuable for optimizing decentralized networks.
