Martin Shkreli, a controversial figure in the pharmaceutical industry, caught everyone by surprise with his bombshell prediction: a 75% chance that Bitcoin will reach $1 million by the end of 2024. A prophecy that adds to those of other financial heavyweights such as Cathie Wood and Robert Kiyosaki.

In a resounding tweet posted on April 1st, Martin Shkreli dropped a bombshell: “I think there is a 75% chance that BTC hits $1 million by the end of the year.” A shocking prediction that he fully stands by, refuting any April Fools’ jokes and declining bets offered, believing instead that he can get better odds on the markets.

If the former head of Turing Pharmaceuticals, convicted for fraud in 2015, refuses to reveal the reasoning behind this forecast, his stance is nonetheless sensational. One million dollars per Bitcoin would mean a twentyfold increase from the current price.

Some have questioned the relevance of such a prediction without justification. Others have pointed out that it would imply a collapse of the US dollar.

But for the one dubbed “the most hated man in America,” the meteoric rise of Bitcoin is not necessarily tied to the decline of the greenback. Despite doubts and criticisms, Martin Shkreli maintains his position, categorically excluding the possibility of an April Fools’ prank.

Predictions In Line With Crypto Experts

Shkreli is not the only one envisioning heights for BTC. Indeed, Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, had already predicted that Bitcoin’s price would surpass a million before 2030, revising her estimates since the approval of spot ETFs in the United States. For her, the growing involvement of traditional financial institutions will fuel the rise.

Similarly, Tim Draper and Anthony Scaramucci, two major figures in finance, anticipate significant appreciation. Draper sticks to a forecast of $250,000 by 2025. Scaramucci is betting on $170,000 following the next halving. 

Robert Kiyosaki, the best-selling author of “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” maintains his forecast of a Bitcoin at $100,000 by June 2024. He bets on a collapse of the dollar and traditional markets, which would propel the queen of cryptos and precious metals to record levels.

While Martin Shkreli’s bombshell prediction is sure to make waves, it comes in a favorable context for Bitcoin. With such respected personages as Cathie Wood and Robert Kiyosaki counting on a spectacular soar in the price, the million-dollar hypothesis seems less and less far-fetched.
