Binance in Turmoil: Escalating Crisis for the Crypto Exchange and CZ!
The challenges of crypto exchange Binance have somewhat faded from the spotlight. However, they are very much present and more complicated than ever, especially in Nigeria where two executives of the company are under custody. In the meantime, the noose tightens around Changpeng Zhao, the former CEO of the firm whose travel rights are restricted.
Travel Rights of the Former Binance CEO Restricted…
Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, the former CEO of Binance, is facing increased travel restrictions. With a decisive trial awaiting him on the 30th of April, a US court has ordered him to surrender his Canadian passport.
The same court also denied him the right to obtain new travel documents without its prior approval. Moreover, he is required to inform the authorities before any travel within the United States where his movements are confined.
In addition, besides his Canadian passport, the court has instructed him to surrender all of his passports and travel documents, whether valid or expired. He must also comply with all these strict travel regulations within the country.
These measures were taken despite his rejected offer to renounce his $4.5 billion stake in Binance. He proposed this in order to obtain permission to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where his family resides. However, it seems that the American justice system’s fear of seeing the former Binance boss escape is far too strong.
… While Binance Faces the Heat in Nigeria
As things heat up for the former CEO of Binance, the company he founded hasn’t yet fully emerged out of troubled waters. This is despite major sacrifices made in recent months to shield the company from legal troubles.
The crypto firm seems to be a frequent subject of such issues, particularly in Nigeria. In this African country, Binance is accused of market manipulation and destabilization of the local currency. This has led to a state investigation and the imposition of heavy fines against Binance.
And to make matters worse, two senior executives of Binance are reported to be detained in Nigeria. Meanwhile, in the United States, a court of appeals has revived a class-action lawsuit against CZ and Binance. Both are accused of violating securities laws.
With the intensification of these legal battles both nationally and internationally, the future of crypto exchange Binance seems more uncertain than ever. The situation jeopardizes its market leadership in the crypto exchange industry as it has lost a significant market share amidst this legal quagmire.
