The behavioral study of Bitpanda reveals notable differences in investment approach by gender. Women adopt more methodical and long-term oriented strategies, demonstrating a more disciplined investment approach than their male counterparts.

Women adopt a patient investment strategy in crypto

According to a study Bitpanda conducted among 1,400 investors, half of the women investing in crypto prioritize long-term gains. The survey, shared with Cointelegraph, reveals that 49% of them hold their assets for up to five years, and 39% plan to keep them even longer.

Bitcoin is the preferred choice for 30% of female investors, compared to 24% of men. This preference reflects a strategic approach rather than mere caution, as explained by Mary Pedler, founder of INPUT Comms: ” When we invest in Bitcoin, it’s after understanding its fundamental value – we are building wealth for future generations. “

The statistics show that women average 9 annual transactions, compared to 13 for men, thus adopting a more patient investment strategy.

Nkiru Uwaje, co-founder of Mansa, states: ” Women see investing as an integral part of a broader wealth strategy. We are not looking for quick profits and do not make decisions out of fear of missing out on an opportunity.

Persistent challenges despite encouraging growth

Although the number of women investing in crypto is steadily increasing, significant obstacles remain. The survey reveals that 81% of respondents consider themselves inexperienced investors, and 24% cite lack of knowledge as their biggest challenge.

Statistics show that only 26% of crypto holders are women. However, those who began investing in January 2024 have seen an average growth of 8.1% in their investments over the year.

Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, emphasizes that “women generally adopt a patient investment style, with a lower trading frequency than men. This patience translates perfectly in the volatile cryptocurrency markets.”

To promote the inclusion of women in this sector, initiatives like Women in Ethereum Protocol (WiEP) emphasize education, clear guidance, and structured support, encouraging women to start with small investment amounts.

On this Women’s Day, let’s applaud this balanced approach which could well shape the future of the crypto market and inspire more women to engage in this evolving sector.
