BRICS: The United States No Longer Dominates the World!
The era when the United States dominated global affairs unchallenged seems to be coming to an end. Subramaniam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, expressed in an interview with the PTI agency that the United States, already affected by the de-dollarization movement led by BRICS, has changed its approach to global leadership. According to him, Washington has reduced its attempts to control every international event, opting now for more targeted and responsible participation.
Change in the role of the United States on the global stage
Subramaniam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, an active member of BRICS, recently stated in an interview with the Press Trust of India (PTI) agency that the manner in which the United States approaches its global influence has radically changed. According to him, the United States has reduced its efforts for global control, preferring a more measured and responsible approach to world affairs, indicating a significant shift in their foreign policy.
The diplomat emphasized that regional issues are now handled by the countries concerned themselves, without external intervention from superpowers as in the past. This autonomy allows affected regions to manage crises in their own way to achieve more suitable and effective solutions.
The era when the United States was perceived as an “indispensable power” seems to be over. Past statements from figures like Madeleine Albright contrast with the current reality, where global solutions no longer exclusively depend on American intervention.
Be careful not to neglect the superpower status of the United States
Although the international role of the United States is changing, Minister Jaishankar emphasizes that they remain a dominant superpower. However, he acknowledges that the gap between the United States and other major world powers is gradually narrowing.
This change is a sign of an evolving global dynamic that sees the emergence of new influential actors and new blocs on the international stage, like BRICS. Jaishankar also noted that the United States themselves recognize this change in global dynamics and adjust their strategy accordingly.
Lastly, the diplomat advises other nations not to rush the ousting of the United States from their superpower position. Instead, he encourages recognizing and respecting the continued but evolved role of the United States, which, despite a changing geopolitical landscape and the de-dollarization movement of BRICS, continues to strongly influence policies and economies around the globe. This cautious approach will help maintain balance in international relations and promote an orderly transition towards a more diversified world order.
